CCTV Installation

HD CCTV installed end to end — survey, cameras, cabling, recorder and mobile viewing.

A CCTV installation is only as good as the survey behind it. SmartNest starts by walking your site, finding the entrances, blind spots and the cash, stock or perimeter areas that actually matter, then recommends the right cameras and placement — not the most cameras.

Below is how a CCTV installation is built up, from a basic home system to an advanced multi-camera IP setup, including the components, the camera types, and the brands we install.

How a CCTV system connects — cameras record to an on-site NVR/DVR, and your router streams live and recorded footage to the cloud and your phone.

Basic CCTV installation

A basic system covers the core of a home or small shop: a few cameras on the key approaches, a recorder with local storage, and live viewing on your phone. It is wired, reliable and affordable.

  • 2–4 HD cameras (2MP/1080p dome and bullet)
  • Digital Video Recorder (DVR) for analog-HD cameras, 4 or 8 channels
  • Surveillance-grade hard disk (e.g. 1TB WD Purple / Seagate SkyHawk)
  • RG59 + power (coax) or CAT cable, conduits and connectors
  • Power supply / SMPS and a UPS for short outages
  • Mobile-view app set up and tested on your phone

Dome camera

Discreet, vandal-resistant, ideal for indoor and entrance ceilings.

Bullet camera

Long, visible deterrent with longer range — good for outdoor walls and gates.

Analog HD (HD-TVI / AHD / HD-CVI)

Cameras run over coax to a DVR — the economical choice for homes and small shops.

Hikvision / Prama Hikvision — The most widely deployed CCTV brand in India — broad range from 2MP budget cameras to AcuSense AI and ColorVu full-colour night models.

CP Plus — Popular Indian-market brand with strong service availability and good value for homes and small businesses.

Dahua — Global manufacturer with a deep analog-HD and IP line-up, WizSense AI, and reliable NVRs/DVRs.

Advanced CCTV installation

Advanced systems move to IP cameras over a PoE network for higher resolution, smarter analytics, and clean cabling. This is the right base for larger homes, offices and commercial sites that need coverage, clarity and remote access.

  • 4–16+ IP cameras (4MP–8MP/4K), PoE-powered
  • Network Video Recorder (NVR) with PoE ports, 8/16/32 channels
  • PoE switch(es) and CAT6 structured cabling
  • Higher-capacity surveillance HDD(s) — 4TB–8TB+ for longer retention
  • ColorVu / full-colour night cameras and AcuSense/WizSense AI where useful
  • Secure remote access, motion/line-crossing alerts and user accounts

IP / network camera (PoE)

One cable for data + power; 4MP–4K resolution and on-camera analytics.

Turret / eyeball

Flexible aiming with less glare than a dome — a popular all-rounder.

PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom)

Motorised camera to cover large areas and follow activity.

ColorVu / full-colour night

Full-colour images in low light instead of black-and-white IR.

Hikvision / Prama Hikvision — The most widely deployed CCTV brand in India — broad range from 2MP budget cameras to AcuSense AI and ColorVu full-colour night models.

Axis Communications — Premium network-video brand for enterprise and critical sites — excellent image quality and open integration.

Bosch — Enterprise-grade cameras and video management with strong analytics and long-life hardware.

Honeywell — Trusted for commercial and industrial security, often paired with access control and alarms.

Frequently asked questions

How much does CCTV installation cost in Visakhapatnam?+

It depends on the number of cameras, whether you choose analog-HD or IP, cable runs and storage retention. A basic 2–4 camera home system costs far less than a 16-camera IP office setup. SmartNest gives a fixed quote after a free site survey — no guesswork, no hidden cabling charges.

How long does a CCTV installation take?+

A typical 4-camera home or shop is usually done in a day. Larger IP systems with structured cabling across an office or commercial site take two to three days depending on cable routing and the number of cameras.

Should I choose analog HD or IP cameras?+

Analog HD (over coax to a DVR) is the economical choice for homes and small shops at 2MP. IP cameras over PoE give higher resolution (4MP–4K), on-camera AI and cleaner single-cable wiring — the better base for offices, larger homes and commercial sites. We recommend the right fit during the survey.

How many cameras do I need?+

Enough to cover entrances, blind spots, cash/stock areas and the perimeter without wasteful overlap. During the survey we map coverage and recommend the right number and placement — not the most cameras.

Can I view my CCTV on my phone?+

Yes. Every SmartNest installation includes secure mobile viewing set up and tested on your phone, with live view, recorded playback and motion alerts.
