Residential CCTV Installation

Security that fits a home — the right cameras, tidily installed, viewable from your phone.

A home doesn't need a commercial control room — it needs the right few cameras on the gate, main door, parking and blind spots, with clear night vision and easy phone viewing. And it needs to be installed tidily, respecting your neighbours' privacy.

SmartNest designs home CCTV around how your family actually lives, from a two-camera flat to a full villa and garden.

A typical home setup

Coverage of the approaches that matter, without turning your home into a fortress.

  • Gate/entrance, main door, parking and blind-spot cameras
  • 2MP–4MP cameras (IP PoE or analog HD to suit budget)
  • DVR/NVR with ~2–4 weeks of retention
  • Night vision — IR or full-colour ColorVu at the gate
  • Phone viewing with motion alerts, tested
  • Optional video doorbell and indoor camera

Privacy done right

Good home CCTV respects boundaries — yours and your neighbours'.

  • Aim cameras at your property, not into neighbours' homes
  • Privacy-mask areas that shouldn't be recorded
  • Avoid cameras in genuinely private indoor spaces
  • Secure the system — strong passwords, updated firmware
  • Explain who can view footage and how it's stored

Frequently asked questions

How many cameras does a house need?+

Most homes are well covered by the gate/entrance, main door, parking and any blind-spot approach — often 2 cameras for a flat and 4–8 for an independent house or villa. The gate camera is the single most valuable one. We recommend placement from a quick survey.

Will my home CCTV record my neighbours?+

We aim cameras at your own property and use privacy masking to block areas that shouldn't be recorded, so you get security without intruding on neighbours — which is also the right thing legally and socially.

Can I watch my home cameras on my phone while travelling?+

Yes — every installation includes secure phone viewing with live view, recorded playback and motion alerts, set up and tested before we leave.

Analog or IP for a home?+

Both work well at home. Analog HD (2MP) is the economical choice for a simple flat or house; IP (4MP+, full-colour night, AI alerts) is worth it for larger homes or where you want the sharpest footage at the gate. We suggest the right fit for your budget.
